Free Tips

If the tips of your turbine blades do not have a duct, we work outwards from the hub reducing the chord up to the 40% point, thereafter we select a chord for the rest of the blade such that the Reynolds number stays constant to the tip.

Inside Duct

We maximise the chord of the blade, without exceeding your chosen root chord. This causes more-efficient higher Reynolds Numbers, which are safe to use since the duct prevents tip loss.

Custom

Enter a python formula to specify Y (section chord) and Z (trailing edge location) for each X (from 0=hub to 1=tip).

NOTE:

*The length of the axis line you select determines the starting blade chord at the hub (see chord formula).
*Both strategies above create blades with straight trailing edges, to minimise wake turbulence.
*Picking an existing strategy will populate its corresponding formula into the input box.
*Open the formula instructions link for details.
